Contact Dr. D. Schwander Dr. med. Dominique Schwander, P. D., is an experienced clinician having a double doctor specialist FMH training. He dedicates himself to protect and defend patients. He has worked for patients`rights and excellence in medicine. After having worked in hospitals, he is devoted to help those which are endangered by hospitals and doctors, risk to be , or were injured by health system. During last 27 years, Dr. Schwander made more than 100 forensic examinations in Switzerland and abroad and was called as consultant and coach by several hospitals, public health services, consulting companies and various organizations. Dr. Schwander created this PatientProtect.com website, within his consultation framework, to share knowledge acquired during these many years. This website is, of course, not a substitute for personalized advices, forensic examination, consultant report or coaching. This site is not a medicine call center ( like emergency telephone 112 etc...) where the patient calls, and a nurse or a telephone operator answers him, listening with patience or impatience, and taps precise data to him, to enter them into a software who will decide instead of a physician; doctors much too often are absent from such call centers. Doctors miss of such call center, since the objective of these structures is to make economies on patients back and, to be more precise, short-circuit doctors. Dr. Schwander worked 35 years in hospitals . After having made a double postgraduate FMH training, (anesthesiology-reanimation and intensive care medicine), in three university hospitals, whose IFAI of Inselspital in Bern and two besides Atlantic, he was during 7 years head doctor and substitute of the head of service or chairman of the University Department of Anesthesiology and Surgical intensive care of CHUV in Lausanne, and was named Privat docent within Lausanne Faculty of Medicine. After which, he was during 20 years head of Service of Anesthesiology and Reanimation Service in Cantonal Hospital of Freiburg, an afiliated university hospital, in Switzerland. He was President of the Swiss Society of Anesthesiology and Reanimation (SSAR-SGAR), and was allowed in several medical societies. He is, in particular, permanent member, since its foundation, of the European Academy of Anesthesiology. It is as head of service that Dr. Schwander realised of incidents frequency and increasing problems, generated in particular by latent systemic defects, as well in hospital sector as in ambulatory sector, and by managed care organizations. Having taken an active early retirement, he continues the work of all his life: to provide better care (quality) with less critical incidents (safety).
